‎Written Justification: Investigating School Dropouts
‎Education is widely recognized as the foundation of personal growth and national development. However, in many parts of Kenya, school dropout cases continue to rise despite government efforts to ensure free and compulsory basic education. This investigation seeks to uncover the underlying causes, effects, and possible solutions to the increasing cases of school dropouts within the community.
‎The topic is justified because the issue directly affects the nation’s future workforce and development goals. Every child who leaves school prematurely loses the opportunity to achieve their full potential, which in turn contributes to unemployment, early pregnancies, poverty, and social instability.
‎Investigating this issue will help identify the specific factors leading to school dropout — such as poverty, teenage pregnancy, child labour, drug abuse, and family breakdowns — from the perspective of those directly affected. It will also hold education stakeholders accountable and inspire policy interventions to keep children in school.
‎Furthermore, this study is important to the public because it gives voice to vulnerable children whose stories often go unheard. By documenting their experiences, challenges, and dreams, the investigation aims to create awareness, influence community attitudes, and advocate for stronger support systems for learners at risk of dropping out.
